Parenting is hard. Parenting a child with a (diagnosed or suspected) mental illness is even harder. Meetings will be Fridays at 10:00 AM in the parish offices starting November 11. Meeting room to be determined. This is our starting date but there is still room for people in the group. If you are interested in joining, you may join at any time. This is a group of mothers looking for ways to support each other by praying together, sharing knowledge, experience, stories, struggles and victories. We also hope to become a group of friends who can help each other in hands-on and practical ways if needed. Being a part of other groups and sharing these special and unique struggles is difficult and many people know that it is difficult for others to understand and relate to, so parents often do not have an outlet. Parents dealing with mental illness (examples: generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, ADHD, eating disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders) face special challenges navigating the mental and medical health systems as well. Finding proper services can be one more thing added on their already full plate. We would like to help carry that special cross.
