Lumen Gentium is the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church issued by Vatican II. In this presentation, In videos 1 and 2, Deacon Tim Elliott describes what exactly a Dogmatic Constitution is, and how this particular one came about. Tim starts with Pope John XXIII's convening the conference and his disagreements with the Curia and their defense of the
status quo in the Church, Pope John wished to "open the windows and let in the fresh air," Tim explains. He then gets into the document itself, starting with it's organization.
Meeting on the following Sunday, Deacon Tim, in videos 3 and 4, got into the meat of Lumen Gentium, discussing Part 1 (of 8) in the document, "The Mystery of the Church," and briefly touched on Part 2, :The People of God." Obviously,exploring the entire document will require additional meetings.
