Here are some of the ways we PRAY, PLAY AND SERVE:
PRAY: We share in prayer together. We attend Mass. We pray with others around the country at Catholic HEART Workcamp. We attend adoration. We attend the National Catholic Youth Conference with 20,000 other Catholics from across the U.S. We engage spiritual discussions. We have two to three high school retreats each school year. We have a monthly, youth-led liturgy as part of our GROW (Faith Formation) Program. We live in cardboard boxes one weekend a year to show solidarity with the homeless. We worship each year with other teens at the Diocesan Youth Mass. We offer Catholic Scouting. Our high school and middle school programs meet weekly to pray, play and serve. We attend the bi-annual Diocesan Youth Conference.
We play volleyball, kickball, hide & seek, and laser tag. We have lock-ins with others from the diocese. We play Wii Dance and Wii Sports. We laugh, dance, sing and talk at CHWC. We engage in fellowship. We play crazy games to relate to scripture. We watch videos and movies. We bowl and play board games. We go tubing and visit amusement parks. We blow off steam by finger-painting and playing water games.
. Most of all, we laugh and love while we pray and serve.
SERVE: We prepare and serve meals at the Volunteer Ministry Center. Our high school and middle school religious education programs are service based. We travel across to different cities to do service work with Catholic HEART Workcamp. We help pack meals with Mobile Meals. Our youth participate in an annual grounds beautification day at All Saints. We help process and sort gifts with the Angel Tree program. Our youth serve in various liturgical ministries in the church. We help the Knoxville community by hosting a Catholic HEART Workcamp each year. We help do yard work and cleaning for at-risk elderly as part of our Life on the Streets Retreat. We write letters and collect goods for the homebound and military. Our teens serve in various diocesan and parish leadership positions. We have travelled to Colombia to serve the poor. Pack and Troop 630 do many good turns daily in and around Knoxville.
